It's Official!

Well, ladies, it is official!  I have retired!  Yup, today was my last day of work.  I had such mixed emotions about retiring.  While you can't wait to stay home, you are also going to miss seeing the people you work with on a daily basis.  And let's face it, retirement is a new chapter in your life.  I'm looking at this chapter as the one in which I get to sleep a little later, play a little more & relax for the first time in years & years! And not have to drive in the snow & ice unless I'm going to a stamp sale! lol

I have a birthday card to share today. This was a digi image from Hugware.

I love this happy little gal.  She is so much fun to color.  I used Spellbinder dies to mat her & I'm hoping she will find a happy home someday soon.

Catch you later!

Back with some plaid!

Hi,

Sorry I haven't posted all week.  I actually WAS busy making cards, but it was just one of those hectic weeks where you never seem to have a minute of extra time.  I worked later than usual a couple of nights trying to get things done in preparation for my retirement tomorrow.  After making a left turn at the corner for 32 years & 7 months, I'm sure I will have to watch myself when I leave the house for awhile to be sure I don't just automatically start that drive!  Old habits die hard!

I had some great plaid paper from a fall K & Co paper pack that I've been hoarding & finally cut into. I love the colors in this plaid!  They just scream fall to me!

This first card is made with a Sassy Cheryl digi.  I used an Impression Obsession die to cut the smaller leaves and the larger one that I sanded & popped up on a pop dot was made with a Spellbinder set.

This one was another variation on the Plum Purdy stamp that is one of my favorites. I don't know about you, but there are some stamps I will NEVER get rid of because I just love them too much.  This is one of those.  In fact, I have to say that about all of the Plum Purdy stamps.  Maybe it's a good thing she doesn't do many stamps or I would have to have them all!

Better get busy.  Lots to do before tomorrow.

Have a wonderful week!

A Relaxing Day...

Hi, everyone,

I hope you had a relaxing Saturday.  After a hectic & stressful week, I got to enjoy a nice day in the country with a couple of my stamping friends.  There is nothing more relaxing than spending time listening to the birds while sitting on a deck sipping coffee & looking at the beautiful countryside.

I thought this would be a good time to share a card I have been saving for someone very special to me. It is pretty simple, but I think the beauty of the image is all it really needs.  This digi is from A Day For Daisies.

I love this card.  I was so happy with it when I finished it that I wanted to mail it right away, but I'm saving it for her birthday.  I colored her with Prismacolor brush markers & cut her out with a Spellbinder die. A corner punch for some interest & it was done.  The paper was from my stash.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Out of my comfort zone..

Happy Monday!

Today I have a card that is a bit out of my comfort zone.  I don't usually do monochromatic cards. I prefer lots of color.  But A Day for Daisies is having a challenge #78 to use a monochrome color scheme & I thought I would give it a try. Live dangerously, right?  So I made a birthday card for my son-in-law using this beautiful baby giraffe.  I colored him with Prismacolor pencils & gamsol & the bow is from Memory Box & the sentiment is framed with a Spellbinder die.

What is there about giraffes that makes them so beautiful?  The long eyelashes, the sweet face or just the total beauty?  Whatever it is, they have certainly captured it in this image.

Have a great Tuesday!

Autumn Leaves

Hi, all!
I hope you had a restful & enjoyable weekend.  We all need that little time to re-charge don't we?

Tonight I have a couple of thank you cards I made with some autumn leaf dies. They were fun to put together & one of them was already sent off to my grandson to thank him for my Grandparent's Day card & gift.

For the card on the left, I used a couple of my Twinkling CO2's  with my water pen to lay down some color on the textured card.  The dies were from Spellbinders & the sentiment was a Studio G.  The card on the right was done with a strip of DP instead of the painting & a little ribbon instead of the Scrapper's Floss.

I thought the card on the left was a little more "manly" (& I liked it better) so it went to Josh!

Have a great week everyone! I think it will be an interesting one!

Thanks!

Happy Saturday!

I'm sharing a thank you card this morning.  I made it a couple of days ago to send to a sweet friend who did something nice for me.  I had hoped to mail it yesterday, but the day tried to really live up to it's reputation as Friday the 13th!  Instead of a busy day at work, it ended up as a busy day at the doctor's office.  Thankfully, things seem much better today.

I don't do a lot of brown cards but I got a packet of beautiful papers the other day & these 2 browns just caught my eye! The sentiment is a Studio G from Michaels. The flowers are from Stampin Up's Posy Punch & I stamped them with brown StazOn ink. The ferns are Impression Obsession, and I added Joy Craft Lily corners to the Spellbinders Adorning Squares.  I'm hoping she will like it when it arrives!

I'm going to try to relax this weekend & concentrate on some cards. Doctor's orders! ha ha

Catch you later!

Grateful

Hi, all!

I have another Plum Purdy stamp to share tonite.   I adore her work & wish she made more stamps. For those of you not familiar with the website, she specializes in patterns for Tole painters.  For many years, that was my all consuming passion & selling my work helped raise extra money when my daughter was small. Bless her heart, she was a real trooper during those years of countless craft shows. I'm sure she could tell you some stories of the weekend shows where she sat doing her homework & helping me with the table.

I love this big old crow sitting on his pumpkin! I wanted something simple so didn't use my normal DP and went with embossing a strip down the front of the card instead. I skimmed a bit of orange ink over it to make it show better & some glitter to the leaves.  I colored it with Prismacolor brush markers & the sentiment is an old one from Stampin Up. The border was made with a Martha Stewart punch.

One more day to this week & we can enjoy another weekend!  Happy Friday, everyone!

Plum Purdy!

Happy Monday!

My car showed a temp of 97 when I got into it after work!  I can't believe we are still having these warm temperatures!

Tonight I have several cards I made with one of my all time favorite fall stamps from Plum Purdy.  I colored these up over the weekend and made them up into Halloween cards.

The paper was from Recollections & they were all colored with my Prismacolor brush markers. Sometimes it's kind of fun to see how many different cards you can make with the same stamp.

Have a great week!

Happy Boo to You!

Hi, all!

This will be a short post tonight.  It was a hectic day today & one I am glad is behind me.  Too bad there couldn't be 5 day weekends and 2 day work weeks!

I have another Halloween card tonite.  I am way behind on those as well!  I think we have a theme here.  I am WAY behind on all my cards.  ha ha

This one was made with more Penny Black images.  Like the last one I made, it didn't quite end up like I intended when I began.  I wanted to use my Memory Box door die so I ended up scoring & shading the card to resemble the siding on a house.

I added some Memory Box spider webs too.  You can't have a Halloween card without at least one spider web somewhere!

Have a great weekend!

Just Because..

Happy Thursday!

Only one more day left before the weekend.  Hurray!!  Why is it that short weeks are always longer than normal weeks?

I was going to share another Halloween card tonite, but decided to share a fall card instead.  This one was made with a Hugware digi.  He is such a cute little scarecrow I couldn't pass him by. He is colored with my usual Prismacolor brush markers & Spellbinder dies helped complete the card. The paper was from my stash.

Special thanks to the sweet ladies who left comments on my last card admitting that they too have spider & bat buttons!  Now I don't feel quite so odd!  ha ha  Scary as it is, there are more of us out there!!

Enjoy your Friday & have a great weekend!

Mice Treats

Hi,
I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!  It's hard to believe that summer is almost over now & the days will be getting shorter.  And colder!

Today I have another Halloween card to share.  Have you ever had an idea that just didn't quite turn out the way you thought it would?  Well, that was this card.  I started with my cute Penny Black cat who is going trick or treating for mice treats.  I personally prefer chocolate!  I tried 2 different windows before settling on this one.  Then I used an IO die for the fern in the window.  A Memory Box tree was a must.  And of course, I had to add bat buttons from my stash of bat & spider buttons.  Now that is a sentence I never thought I would be saying......and I hope I'm not the only one with a stash of bat & spider buttons??? Don't most stampers have one?  lol   The pumpkins were from Hugware.
I did something weird when I downloaded him & couldn't get my colors to go back to what they actually are. That explains why our little cat looks more blue than gray. In real life, he is pretty cute.

Enjoy your the last day of your long weekend! Catch you later!
