HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Happy New Year!

Another year gone already.  Where did it go!  My hope for all of you is that this coming year will be one of good health & much happiness.

Our warm temps are gone & winter is trying to peak it's head in again. A perfect night to stay home where it is warm & work on cards!  This one started out as a thank you, but revolved into a Valentine. Perhaps it was the red paper.  ha ha  Anyway, these are some of the magnificent dies I got from my daughter for Christmas.  The heart die is from Marianne Design & the gatefold dies were from Spellbinders.

Aren't these dies just gorgeous?  I'm having so much fun with them and I have a lot more to go. It's kind of fun to take a break from coloring & do something different for awhile.

A Little Thank You

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  With weather in the 50's here, it just didn't seem like Christmas.  Or even like winter!!  We usually have snow to our knees & below zero temps at this time of the year, not record warm temps, but I don't think anyone is complaining!!

Today's card is a thank you.  It started out as a "play with some of my new dies" adventure, & kind of grew into a thank you card.  I have a lot of those to make this weekend.  Santa was VERY good to me! I have a box of new dies & cartridges for my new cricut along with stamps, paper, & all kinds of goodies. I wish I had vacation time left to play with all of it, but the long weekend will have to do.

The background is embossed with one of my folders & the lacey shapes on each side are from the new Spellbinders Gatefold dies.  The rose is stamped with an old Inkadinkado stamp & the butterfly is another die from Cheery Lynn.  I was going to do snowmen thank you's but just had to try out the new dies first!  I'm like a kid in a candy store right now, trying to decide which new die to use first!

I should be back soon with something else to share from my new bag of goodies! In the meantime, have a wonderful Friday & a safe weekend!!

A Gift from the Heart

I'm so far behind in getting things done before the end of the week, I should be doing a dozen things right now.  Instead, I wanted to post one of my favorite images from Mo Manning.  This little drummer boy is just adorable isn't he?  I colored him in copics for the most part, adding a bit of pencil shading when I didn't have the right color. The paper was from my stash.

Only a few more days left until Christmas.  The time is flying by so quickly it is scary! Where did this year go?  Where did the DAY go!  I had better quit blogging & get busy or I will never get to bed! Catch you all later!

Oops! It's still Christmas!

Yes, I know.  I promised something besides another Xmas card today.  After finishing 15 assorted cards yesterday, I was so tired at midnite when I was putting them in packets that I forgot all about taking a photo of any of them.  Darn!  I REALLY liked the guy birthday cards I came up with.  When things settle down, I may have to recreate them.

Meantime, I'm still frantically trying to finish my own Xmas cards.  Here is one I finished just a few minutes ago.  The stamp is from Renee Mullins. She does only a few stamps as she specializes in tole painting, but her stamps are darling.  This one was colored with copics. The paper is from Recollections.

I would have gotten more done this afternoon, but my daughter got a new Cricut and gave me her old one.One of her friends visited her this weekend & brought it back to me along with some of her cartridges so I've been "playing" instead of working.  Shame on me, but it was a lot of fun!  Now I have to buckle down & get busy!

Have a great week!  Catch you all later.

Another Song

What a week!  Since I don't have the energy left to sing anything, I will let tonite's card do all the singing for me. An 11 hr day is too much for this old gal. This Mo Manning image, however, has plenty of energy to sing us a Xmas carol.
I don't know if these are traditional Xmas colors, but I kind of like the blue & green together. I made another card I REALLY love, but can't share it yet as it is a Xmas card for someone. I colored this one with copics & the snowflake border is a Martha punch.  Got to LOVE Martha!

I have to make 15 assorted  cards by Sunday nite so my next posting will probably be something other than Xmas.

Enjoy your Saturday!  Catch you later!

More Xmas!

Another fast post tonite.  It seems everyone at work has caught some kind of "crud" for want of a better word. Me included. I think I was up half the nite coughing & blowing my nose so I have a feeling I may be hitting the couch early tonite with a dish of rocky road ice cream to make me all better! When I'm sick, all I want is ice cream!

Obviously I didn't take a good picture of this one.  I'm going to blame it on my "crud", of course.  This is another Mo Manning digi & she is so beautiful I just had to color her up. I added glitter to the wings....have to have glitter....

Hope you are having a good week.  Catch you all later!

The Reason For The Season...

Hi everyone,

I just have a short post today.  It's been one of those weekend...I've been over at Dad's a lot as he is having some medical issues right now. Hopefully, everything will resolve itself.

This is a Mo Manning image that says it all.  This is the reason we all celebrate. I hope we all take some time in the middle of the chaos that Christmas has become & count our many blessing & say thank you.

Off to do some laundry & catch up on all the things that haven't gotten done yet.  Tomorrow's forecast is for freezing drizzle.  And from Tues to Thurs they are saying freezing drizzle, freezing rain, ice....White knuckle drives all week.

Stay safe everyone! Catch you all later!

Another Xmas offering...

I'm really getting into this Xmas card thing! I love making them & with so many wonderful images out there, it's hard to decide which to use. I have 3 enormous cubes full to the brim with Xmas stamps & a ton of digi's too, but here I go again using another Mo Manning image. How I adore her amazing, amazing  work!

I wanted to paper piece the ornament, but with digi's that isn't as easy so I just cut it out & put my DP behind it.  I thought this would look better than a solid ball.  The flower is from a Xmas tin I got on clearance last year at Michaels.  I LOVE clearance sales!  You get some wonderful bargains after holidays!  I colored her with copics.  I like yesterday's card better, but this one is cute too.  Hard to resist an elf....

We are going to be below zero tonite again, but warming up tomorrow.  Yeaaaa!!!  Then they are saying ice from Sunday nite into Monday and again mid week so I guess we enjoy the warm weather while we can!

May I Sing For You?

This little beauty is ready to sing your favorite Christmas carol.  She is another Mo Manning image & it's hard to resist her isn't it?  I colored her in copics.  The paper is from The Paper Studio.  No extra embellishments again tonite. Just plain & simple.  I hope you like her.

Guess I had better get busy.  I still have to make some lemon bars to take to work tomorrow for a birthday. If it wasn't snowing out, I'd just run to the store & pick something up!  Oh, well, guess it won't kill me to do some baking tonite.  I can still watch my favorite shows while I'm slaving away in the kitchen!  Now do you all feel sorry for me?  lol

Catch you again tomorrow.  Have a wonderful Friday!

Christmas Mail

Ok, it may be offical now that I may be seriously nuts!  I saw this stamp & started laughing.  I have to admit I have never equated Xmas with large birds mailing cards, but this one was just too goofy  to resist.  Who wouldn't want to get an ostrich Xmas card?  The stamp was from Inky Antics & I colored it with copics. The paper was from DCWV and the snowflakes were cut from dies.

The snow & glitter don't show up well, but I did add that for interest.  I promise tomorrow I will have a more "normal" card! lol  And now I have to figure out which of my friends will look at this goofy card & actually like it!  I have a feeling it may end up in the pile of cards I won't send to anyone.  I think we all have one of those don't we!

Only two days left in the week! YEAA!!

Catch you all tomorrow!

Something Simple

Today's card is pretty simple.  Not a lot of extra doo-dads or flash.  I used a Mo Manning image and colored her with copics.  The background was kraft paper I ran thru an embossing folder & then highlighted the snowflakes with white ink. Pretty basic.  But she was such a beautiful image, I'm hoping she didn't need much else.

It was 9 below here this morning & foggy!  I could only see about a car length for about half of my drive to work.  Somehow foggy mornings don't go with cold, snow & ice!  Did I mention how much I HATE winter! ha ha

I had better get to work on my Xmas cards.  I'm way behind!  Hope you are all having a fabulous week!

Catch you again tomorrow!

A Little Break

Time for a little break from Xmas cards.  I had to make  a couple of packages of assorted cards this weekend for a friend of my daughters. This is one of the thank you cards.

The stamp was from an old Stampin Up set I got at a rummage.  The small butterfly is from a Martha punch & the larger one from Cheery Lynn Designs.  The border is another Martha border punch. It was kind of fun to work on something other than Xmas for a day.
Since it will be 10 below zero tonite, it will be a long time before we see an actual butterfly again!

Back tomorrow with more Xmas!

Little Miss Holly

Well, I know I promised an angel today, but looking at her, I think she is technically a "fairy" according to Mo Manning, the artist. But with wings, I am going to call her a Xmas angel.  I did two cards with this image & both were a lot of fun to color.  I added stickles to the ruffles of each skirt for a little glitter.  A card isn't really finished until you add some glitter!

This is the first one I made, and my favorite of the two, although it was close trying to decide.

This is the second one I did.  Both were colored with copics & the paper is from Recollections.
I have to work on some non-Xmas cards this afternoon, but will be back tomorrow with another post.

Hope you are all having a great weekend.  We only got about 3 inches of snow, not the 5 they said at one time, so I was a happy camper!  And my new snowblower made quick work of it, which I liked even better!

A Snow Day Card

Hi everyone!

I thought I would share a snowman card today since we are getting our first snow of the season.  It has been snowing steadily since around 10:30 this morning.  The forecast says 3-5 inches.  I'm hoping it is the 3", not the 5", of course.  Either way it will be a chance to try out my brand new snowblower!  This gal is just way too old to shovel!

Back to the card.  The snowman image is from Penny Black.  The greenery & ornament are cut from dies by Marianne Designs & the snow border is a die from Memory Box.  I LOVE dies! And punches, and paper, and.........

What is there about snowy days that makes you want to curl up with a fuzzy blanket & a good book (or a long nap) instead of doing all the things you should be doing?  Maybe it's just me. lol

I'll be back tomorrow with some angels.  Quite an assortment the past couple of days! Hot chocolate pockets, snowmen & angels.  I hate doing the same thing over & over, don't you?

Hot chocolate pockets!

Yes, that's right.  Hot chocolate  pockets!  My daughter wanted me to make her some pocket cards to hold hot chocolate packets. I had to use my last vacation day to take Dad to the dr. so I spent the afternoon working on them.  The stamp was from Inky Antics. One of the websites had directions for making the pocket packets, but the measurements they gave were so far off I wasted half the afternoon trying to make my own.
These are a few of the pockets I came up with. It's hard to see they are "pockets" without something in them, but I think you can get the general idea.
I stamped the mugs on the matching paper for each & paper pieced them.  I'm hoping my daughter will love them.  And hoping too, that her hot chocolate packets will fit perfectly! All this talk of hot chocolate is making me want a big mug of it!

Little Drummer Boy

Is it only Monday?  Looks like another long week ahead. lol  So this little guy is just the perfect way to start it. He is another Mo Manning image.  I colored him with copics & Prismacolor markers & the paper is from my stash, but I think it was The Paper Studio.
It doesn't show up well, but I added some snow under their feet & made sure I sprinkled it generously with glitter, of course.  Don't we all love glitter?

Have a wonderful Tuesday!  Catch you all later!

The "Purrfect" Snowman

Yup, you guessed it!  Another cat card!  I can't seem to stay away from them, and there are so many adorable images out there right now they are hard to pass up.  This one is from Inky Antics & I colored it with pencils.  The paper is from Recollections. The snowflakes are cut from Spellbinder dies.
Although we don't have any snow yet, the wind is howling & reminding me of the last time we had a blizzard. The record warm temps we had this week are gone & the cold is back again. I'm sure the snow won't be far behind.  Brrrrr!!  How I hate winter!   Guess I will have to hole up & make cards when it's cold! In the meantime, I think it's time to put up my Xmas tree & get the house decorated.  Got to be ready for Santa!!

Have a great day!  Catch you all later!

Blog Candy

Have a "Tweet" Christmas!

Don't you just love this little branch full of birds!  I found this stamp at a sale & couldn't pass it by.It's from Stamps Happen & I got it for the bargain price of $2.00 !  It took a while to color it up, but it was a lot of fun doing it. The paper is from my scrap pile & so are the cute holly leaves. This card is more "me" than the last one I posted.  I really love "critter" cards.

I hope you are all having a great week.  Catch you all later!

A Little Glitter!

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!  My daughter called the other night & wanted to meet in Omaha today to go to a craft show & hit Archievers.  Since my sister is still here, I thought it would do us both good to take a little road trip. We grabbed my friend Gail & headed off this morning in drizzle & hoped for good roads since the temps were running below freezing. Luckily the farther south we got, the warmer, so we had good roads for our adventure.

I thought I was too tired when we got home to work on a card, but got a second wind once I got home. Tonite's card is an image from Bo Bunny Stamps.  It was the only stamp I bought today!  The camera doesn't show it well, but the background DP is glittered. I added snowflake borders from the new Martha Stewart punch my daughter bought me today & the beautiful flower in the corner was from a pkg. Gail gave me the other day & I believe it is K & Co.

I stamped the reindeer in gold & embossed him with my handy dandy "blow torch" heat gun.  Hope you like the results!

Whee!!

Doesn't it look like they are all having fun?  And who doesn't have fond memories of playing in the snow!  This little trio is another Penny Black stamp from the set my daughter gave me. It was colored with pencils & the paper is from The Paper Studio. The snowflakes are punches and the ric rac trim from a die I love & use a lot.
I haven't had a lot of time to work on cards the past two weeks as my sister has been here, but I did manage to finish this card I had started earlier.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week! Catch you later!

The best kind of snowman!

Since we haven't had any snow yet (HOORAY!) I decided to share a little snowman today.  These are the easiest kind to make.  Not nearly so much fun, but your fingers don't freeze while you are putting them together!  This little guy is from Penny Black.  I used an embossing folder with snowflakes to add some "Xmas" to the background.
The doily is from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I love their amazing dies. This was a super fast & easy card to make.

Have a great week!  Catch you all later!

The Cat In The Hat

We all love a good "cat nap" don't we? And this little guy has found the perfect spot! He is an image from The Artful Stamper that my daughter surprised me with a few weeks ago.  I colored him in pencils and mounted him on paper from The Paper Studio.  I added some white flower soft to his hat to make him extra snuggly.

I think I'm ready for a good "cat nap" too!  It has been a REALLY long week. Thank Heavens, tomorrow is Friday!

The Silly Side

I have to admit that when I think of Christmas, my thoughts don't immediately turn to zebras. However, when I saw this stamp set, I had to get it because it made me smile. And who am I to say that zebras don't celebrate?  Maybe they do.  The stamp is from Inky Antics & the paper from The Paper Studio.
He was colored with copics & pencils & was a fun card to put together.

I hope everyone is having a great week.  We may be getting a "wintery mix" tonite & possibly some snow tomorrow.  I'm hoping it is just plain old rain.  Rain doesn't have to be shoveled!

I'm back

For those of you who saw my last posting, you know why I have been absent for awhile.  It's time to get back to some routine again & making cards has always been my way to escape & unwind at the end of a day. Thanks to all of you who have expressed your concern.

Today's card is one I made before Mom passed & since she shared my love for Xmas, I thought it was a good one to start back with.

This little guy is a Penny Black stamp. It certainly looks like he is really enjoying the season! The evrgreen bough is a new die from Marianne Designs. I added some snow to the branch & the light post for a bit of added texture.  The paper is from The Paper Studio.

I have to share a story about the addition of the snow to my card.  Years ago when my daughter & I first got into heat embossing,  I bought the normal "regulation" heat gun at Michaels.  I had only had it about a day when it quit working & I returned it.  My son-in-law, being the sweetheart that he is, decided to get both of us a "real" heat gun.  After a trip to Menards he came back with our new guns.  I affectionately refer to mine as "the blow torch" because it gets so hot. When I first finished the snow on this card, I looked at it & was admiring how well it had turned out when I noticed this strange red, mangled, "thing" in the corner.  It took me a minute to realize this mangled thing was my melted bow. Yup, melted it to a cinder! Luckily, I was able to pry it off & add a new one.  But you know what?  I wouldn't trade my "blow torch" for a normal heat gun for anything in the world.  Every time I use it I think of my sweet son-in-law & how hard he tried to do something nice for us & it always brings a smile to my face.

Have a great day & enjoy all your blessings.  Catch you later.

In Memory

                                                      July 19, 1924 - October 29, 2011

Heaven has another angel today.  My Mom lost her battle with congestive heart failure and Alzheimer's this morning. But for 87 years, the world was a brighter place because of her smile & I feel blessed that I was her daughter.

Wishing You Happy Surprises!

Hi everyone,

Today's card is a change from the Halloween cards.  Although I had gotten some new Xmas stamps from my daughter, & was planning to work on those today, I had a "happy surprise" from my friend Gail.  She bought me this darling little kitty stamp as a surprise because she knew what a rough week it had been.  What a sweetheart! I have a lot of blessings....family & friends are my most treasured. So, I had to color him up, of course!  Isn't he just the cutest little guy?  One of my blog friends made a comment one day that I certainly had a lot of cat stamps.  Oh, if she only knew! I have 2 boxes FULL of them.  I love all cats...dogs...critters...but I'm a pushover for a cat.

This stamp is from Whimsy Stamps and the paper from The Paper Studio. I colored him with copics and pencils & added some stickles to the bow on his pkg.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MELISSA!!!

A Haunting We Will Go!

I just couldn't resist this little mouse from Penny Black.  He is all decked out in his little witches costume, complete with hat & broom & off to join his little friends collecting cheese for his pumpkin basket.
I colored him with pencils & gamsol & added some stickles to his broom.  The Happy Halloween border was made on my computer.  I was going to cut the center out as I usually do & have the mouse inside peeking out, but would have cut some of his broom out so I went with plan B.
The paper is from the Paper Studio. They have such great holiday packs out right now!

Tomorrow is Friday & I'm counting the hours till Saturday.  It has been a really LONG week!

Happy Autumn

Another long day, but only 9 hrs today.  Luckily, I still have a couple of cards I can share since I may not get anything new colored up tonite.  This is one of the stamps I got for the bargain price of $2 at the rummage last week. It's from PSX, which is not a company I'm familiar with, but that is the only thing stamped on the side. It looks better in person as I haven't mastered the art of taking photos with glitter yet. I used a lot of stickles to accent the wheat.  It was colored with copics & pencils both. The paper is from Memory Keepers.

I'm entering this in Victorine Originals Challenge # 19 - fall colors
Hope you are all having a great week! Catch you later!

Like my cape?

What do you think? Doesn't this cape make me a handsome devil?  Who could resist this little guy? Certainly not me!  This is a Penny Black stamp, of course. Nobody does cats quite like Penny Black. he is colored with pencils & gamsol & the paper is from DCWV.

I still haven't had a chance to play with my Saturday goodies yet.  Worked till 6:30 tonite & am too tired to pick up a pencil so I plan to veg out on the couch & watch both the NCIS shows.  By then I will probably be asleep. ha ha  That's the way it usually works.  Guess I'm too old for 10 & 12 hr days.

Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet....

Don't you love that old poem! The sentiment inside this card is "Trick or Treat..Smell my feet! Give me something good to eat! I don't mean to be precise, but something CHOCOLATE would be nice!"  I remember how I laughed when I saw the sentiment stamp & knew it would come home with me. It's from a store in Sioux Falls that closed a couple of years ago & there is no company name on the sides so I can't even give credit to anyone for it.

The handsome trick or treater is from an old Stampin Up set & the darling web photo corners are from a pkg. my daughter had in my Halloween pkg. Yes, I know it isn't Halloween yet, & I may be a "tiny" bit too old .....Nah! You're never too old for Halloween.  Or presents!  Our family LOVES to give presents!  The ribbon was another goodie in my pkg. I say pkg, but actually it was a beautifully decorated cannister complete with black cats on fences, smiling jack-o-lantern  & bats.  I won't tell her I ate all the chocolate in it the first night. I'm sure she knows me well enough to guess that!   Anyway, since I worked till 8 pm tonite, it's a good thing I had this card made up from yesterday or I'd be way too tired to make one tonite.

Have a great week!  Hopefully, it's going better than mine!  Catch you all later!

Boo to you!

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday.  I promised a new card today & I actually stayed up last nite & worked on it.  You know how it is with new stamps. No matter how tired you are, suddenly you just want to play around for a few minutes....which leads to a few more minutes.... which leads to a card! Darned addictions!  Anyway, this card was done with one of my bargains from yesterday.  Got these stamps in a set from Close to My Heart for $2.00 ! What a bargain!  I colored them with pencils & gamsol as they were pretty tiny. The paper is from The Paper Studio & the web from a Martha punch.

I should be working on laundry, but I hear one more new stamp calling my name.  And it's really calling my name LOUDLY!  lol

Have a great Monday everyone! Catch you all later!

An Almost Perfect Day!

Today was an almost perfect day.  I picked up  my friend Gail & we were on the road by 6:30 this morning to visit my daughter & hit a stamp sale. The weather was perfect and we both found lots of wonderful bargains (in addition to some awesome NEW stuff).  We had lunch with my daughter & son-in-law & then before we left for home, we ate homemade pumpkin pie that my son-in-law had made.  His first attempt at baking & it was delicious! He usually leaves the baking to my daughter, but decided he wanted to try his hand at it.   All in all, it was an "almost" perfect day.  The only thing stopping it from being a perfect day was that my grandson Josh was off at a camp out with Scouts. Boy, did I miss him!

Since I'm dead tired tonite, I'm going to post the birthday card I made for my daughter.  I used this same stamp set about a month ago, but she isn't a big fan of kids or people on cards.  She prefers either critters (her favorite) or flowers.  So I pulled this wonderful Flourish stamp out & used it again to make her a card .

I guess I was tired when I took the picture last nite.  It was much prettier in person.  ha ha
I colored it with copics & added this beautiful butterfly from Cheery Lynn Designs. The paper is from The Paper Studio.

I have a lot of catching up to do tomorrow (groceries, laundry, nursing home, dad's ironing etc) but I'm hoping to fit in some time to play with some of my new goodies. Hopefully, I will have something new & exciting to post tomorrow nite! I have a whole box full of delicious new stamps, some new dies & new paper. Which means I'm in hog heaven!

Scaredy Cat!

Hi everyone,

Surprise! It's another cat card!  lol  I spent the afternoon stamping with Gail and coloring things for Halloween cards. Sweetie that she is, she gave me this stamp she bought & said she wouldn't use again. I couldn't wait to color this little guy up as he reminds me of my little monster when he was just a baby.

The stamp is from Serendipity and he is colored with pencils.  The beautiful spiders are from Jolee's boutique and are so realistic they are almost scarey themselves!  The spiderweb border is from Martha Stewart.

Guess I will get back to finishing some more cards. If it's not raining tomorrow I'm afraid I will have to work on the mountain of leaves in my front yard again & that will leave me no energy to work on cards when I finally get done.  I'm secretly hoping for a downpour so I won't have to rake & won't have to feel guilty! ha ha

It's all about the candy!

Happy Friday!
Is it me, or do the weeks get longer & the weekends shorter?  I have a Halloween card tonite with a goofy cat from Pixie Cottage.  This image just said Brady to me. If my cat could get hold of a pumpkin bucket full of goodies, he would no doubt have to stick his head in it.  Afterall, that's what cats do! And if the treats were anything like the cat treats he inhales every night, there wouldn't be anything left but wrappers either.

I apologize for the poor quality of the photo but Photoshop would not let me save any of the changes I made to it tonite. Apparently, I'm having some problems as I can't leave comments on some of your blogs yet either.  It's so frustrating!  Blogger has made some changes, I know, but for whatever reason, they just aren't working for me.

I colored this with copics & the paper is from DCWV.  I printed the sentiment on my computer.

It looks like a rainy & stormy day tomorrow so that means staying inside & coloring in the afternoon. Hopefully Photoshop will have gotten over it's problems & let me edit the next card I try to post.

Another tree card...

Well, I should be cleaning.  I actually started to clean my stamp room & had almost finished when I picked up this darned tree die to put it away.  From there, it all went downhill quickly.  I decided I just had to try making some fall trees & see what they looked like.  Here was the quick result.

I used the Memory Box tree die and then punched a quick Halloween fence with a Martha punch. I cut the bats off it & decided it would be a cute fence in front of my trees.

Now I REALLY have to get busy!  No more playing tonite.

Have a great Friday!

The good, the bad & the ugly!

Hi everyone,
Tonite I have 2 cards.  Since I promised the next card would be a Halloween card, I had to keep my word & post one.  The one I had been working on didn't come together as I had hoped, so I'm calling it the bad & ugly!  ha ha  The image is from Pixie Cottage & I loved it, but would make it much smaller next time to give me more card to play with.

This is the way I would end up flying if I were a witch! Upside down because I had gotten the spell wrong!

My second card is one I made tonite from one of the new Memory Box dies I got yesterday.  I love the tree die & have another plan for a different version to post later.  It was fast & simple & would make a perfect sympathy card.

Better get busy.  Time to watch Criminal Minds!

Play time!

Hi everyone,
I hope you are having a great week.  I have been working on a couple of Haloween cards, but got side-tracked tonite. That's what happens when you  order a new toy & it comes in!  Memory Box has the most beautiful & intricate dies you have ever seen. They are irresistible!  I decided to play around with a simple sympathy card using the Cataline Wreath. I had ordered a gorgeous tree for that purpose, but the wreath was just too gorgeous once I saw it.

This is the fastest card I think I have ever made.  I used an EK Success corner punch for the corners & laid the wreath down around my sentiment from My Sentiments Exactly. Presto! A gorgeous card.  The possibilities are just endless. I'm already thinking of things I want to do with it.  I hope you like it too!  I promise to post a Halloween card next time.  I didn't have the energy to do more than a quick card tonite as I came home & did a little raking. Although my yard has no trees in front, the neighbor has a huge, ugly, ill-tempered monster that dumps a foot of leaves all over my parking & front yard every fall.  And the rest of the year it just dribbles nasty pods & seeds that have to be swept off the sidewalk.  Can you put a hit out on a tree?  ha ha

Have a great Wed.  Catch you all later!

Boo!

With all the leaves falling down & covering my yard, it feels like time to work on Halloween cards. And that is so much more fun than going outside & raking leaves!  At the rate my neighbor's tree is shedding them, I'm guessing by the end of the week I will need a guide dog to find the sidewalk!  So, I'm giving it a couple more days before I attempt to rake.  My theory is, why do it ten times!

This card is another of my all time favorite stamps and it is from Plum Purdy. Not only is it adorable, but it really reminds me of Brady. My daughter & I actually tried to get him to wear a red satin devil hat with horns when he was little & take a picture of him for Halloween. He wanted no part of the hat & in all of the pictures we did get, the hat was half off & covering his face.  I don't think he has fond memories of Halloween! lol

I colored this with copics & shaded with pencils. The web sides are done with a Martha Stewart punch and the spider buttons are from JoAnn Fabrics.

Have a wonderful week everyone!  Catch you later!

Melissa's snowman

It's Friday!  YEAAAA!!!  Another long week gone & now I can play!  I finally had a chance to work on the cute snowman my daughter sent me.  This little guy is a Northwoods stamp & is colored with copics. The paper is from Paper Studio and I cut some snowflakes from some glitter foam paper I found at a dollar store next to one of my favorite stamp stores.  I had no idea it was sticky on the back so I didn't even have to glue it down! What a bargain! The doily is another die from Cheery Lynn Designs.

While this was so much fun, I had better get in gear & work on some Halloween cards before I go back to making anything else.

Have a great weekend & I'll catch you all later!

Another Par-fect Day...

When I got home tonite I had a pkg. in my mailbox from my daughter. Inside was an adorable snowman stamp from Northwoods Rubber along with another one for Thanksgiving.  I don't know how I got so lucky to be blessed with such a daughter! It was my intention to play with my new snowman stamp but I need an emergency birthday card for work tomorrow.   Nothing in my stash quite seemed right so I pulled out a favorite Penny Black hedgehog to do this little golfer.  The paper is from Memory Keepers and I colored it with a mixture of pencils & copics.  I like yesterday's little chef much better, but this little guy will do for a golfer.

After a high of 88 here today, we are going to cool down a bit tomorrow to the 70's with strong winds, but for one day at least, it felt like summer was back.
Have a great day tomorrow.  Catch you later! (Hopefully, with a snowman card!)

There's cake on the menu!

I hope everyone is having a great week!  I thought I was going to work on a "fun" card, probably Halloween, but thankfully, I checked my spreadsheet for work birthdays & discovered I had one more card to make for September.  And it's a dreaded "guy" card! Yuk!  This guy used to run an upscale restaurant, so I thought a chef of some kind would be fun.  Not having one handy, I checked the digital sites & came across this cheerful little guy at Digi Doodles.

I colored him with a combination of copics & pencils, added some stickles to the cupcake and presto, a guy card!  The paper is from a paper pad I just had out five minutes ago & now can't find!  See what happens when you put stuff back!

I have one more image to share with all of you tonite.  My little buddy Brady has worked so hard all day napping that he is totally exhausted.  I had to snap another shot of him while I had the camera in my hand.

Have you ever seen a cuter helper?  And notice that he has "my" chair? It's the one with the nice soft cushion. He is no dummy!

It's Fall Y'all!

Well, no matter how much we want to pretend, fall is here.  With all the flooding & rain this summer, everyone in this area feels like we got cheated out of a summer.  Which makes the arrival of fall seem all too soon. So, I decided since it was already here, I would get in the mood & do a fall card instead of all the others I should be working on.

This image is one of the few stamps that you can find on Plum Purdy. It's also one of my favorite fall stamps & since I saw Gail's beautiful card using it a few days ago, I had to pull mine out too. We both fell in love with these stamps the minute we saw them. Check out her adorable scarecrow!  It is a Plum Purdy stamp too.   The paper I used was from Memory Keepers and the sprig in the crow's beak is done with some Flower Soft.  I used a felt sunflower I found at Hobby Lobby to finish it.

Better get a load of laundry started.  Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Wish...

My card today is titled "Wish" and I am going to use it for a birthday card.   I think we all have "wishes" don't we?  Mine are usually pretty simple.  Good health, more family time, more cuddle time with a certain snuggly black cat, health & happiness for those I love...Simple things.

Back to the card.  The pretty flower pots are from a wonderful stamp set made by Flourishes. I know it will become a favorite as the flowers can be combined in endless ways. I colored them with pencils & gamsol. I used a Martha Stewart punch to add the scalloped insets & the paper is from The Paper Studio.

I haven't entered any challenges for ages so I'm going to shut my eyes & enter a couple tonite. I'm entering this in Simon Says Stamp Challenge-Use dies or punches & also The Paper Shelter-Anything Goes.

I'm off to work on a couple of other things I colored up this afternoon. Catch you all later!
